South America

The sprawling, unspoiled continent of South America offers some of the last great adventures on earth. For 30 years Contours Travel has been exploring the far corners of this vast, mysterious land.

As a result, we are continually redesigning and enriching our itineraries. The holidays we offer are flexible, in line with our policy of giving you a choice of gateways and airlines. Our guides will offer you a unique insight into the cultures, people, sights, sounds and colours of South America.

We can show you how to get off the beaten track with confidence and security, to witness the beauty of the continents natural wonders and to marvel at its wildlife. I think the best part of travelling to Latin America is the people you will meet. A fascinating mixture of people who love talking about their native culture, folklore, history, their food, music and are equally interested in yours.

For the holiday of your lifetime, I invite you to join us and share our love of the South American continent.

Please note
For travel to Peru in 2008 our operators are informing us that the APEC meetings will bring a lot of people  and they can tell because some hotels and trains are already full so that sometimes they have to ask clients if they can move the arrival dates in order to get the hotels confirmed.

Did you know? There are four species of the South American camelids

Alpaca - the most numerous of the camelids and the main subsistence means for  most Andean families. Its soft  fibres are produced in an array of fantastic colours.

Llama - A mystic symbol and a means of transportation for the Andean peoples. Llama fibre is used on a smaller scale in the textile industry.

Vicuna - the most graceful and scarce of the camelids. During the time of the Incas, only noblemen were allowed to used vicuna hair, the finest in the world.

Guanaco - the largest of the camelids. Guanacos  have extremely fine fibres but can only be marketed under strict conditions and  licences.
