We would like to thank you for a great tour which we did through your Treasures of South America in May this year.

Our tour guide was Alan Huaman and we couldn’t speak highly enough about him.  He made our trip stress free, fun, informative and “wonderful”.

We really appreciated that it was a small group + Alan and other guides which again we would recommend to anyone.

Thanks again,

I returned from South America on 6 June, and wanted to give you feedback on two great guides that we had in Brazil.

Renata was our guide in Rio, and a very personable and helpful guide she was.  A good guide can really make a holiday and this was the case in Rio with her assistance.

I would also like to let you know that Rodrigo (Iguassu Falls) was very knowledgeable and professional.  In addition he is also very caring, as I was unwell on the bus and both he and the driver not only looked after my health issues, but helped to offset my embarrassment.  Many people overlook to highlight very good service, and I wanted you to know just how much I appreciated both of these guides, who I am sure you are probably already aware are highly prized employees.  I hope you will pass on my feedback to them both.

We are at the end of the Mexican part of our trip and we would all like to thank you very much for the fantastic itinerary you designed for us.  We are all most appreciative.  Mexico has provided us with some truly wonderful experiences and this is one trip we will certainly not forget.

At present we are waiting for our final pick-up for our transfer to the airport in Cancun.

All the arrangements from the first day to now have run smoothly and just about all the hotels either met or exceeded our expectations.  This hotel in Playa del Carmen – La Tortuga- is a great way to finish off our wonderful travel experience and has given us time to reflect on our impressions of Mexico.  They are all favourable.

Thanks once again for arranging such a memorable and enjoyable trip.

Firstly let me say that we had a wonderful time. South America is so interesting, there is so much to see and we have lots of great memories (and photos!) to look back on for many years to come.

Most of the local tour operators who looked after us at each of our destinations did a great job. It was always such a relief to arrive at an airport and be met by someone holding a sign up with our name on it!

We were particularly happy with who looked after us throughout Peru. There was a message left at our hotel almost every evening informing us of pick-up times and travel arrangements. They always turned up on time and knew exactly what we should be doing! We had a particularly wonderful day in Puno when we had a guide all to ourselves (a lovely lady called Alicia) for our cruise on Lake Titicaca, visiting the floating reed islands and Tacquile Island. It was one of the highlights of our trip. The bus and train journeys around Peru all went off without a hitch.

Our trip to Machu Picchu was another highlight and our tour guide was great. The guide who took us to the airport at Lima was also great. Lima airport is total bedlam and this lovely lady (whose name I can’t remember!) forced her way through to the check-in counter with us and saved us a very long wait in a very long queue!

Easter Island was also great. The tours we did on Easter Island were fantastic and our local guide was great. We saw so much in our time there.

We were also really happy with our accommodation. Many of our hotels were much better than we expected!
We were really pleased with all the meals and extras that were included in our trip. The breakfasts at all the hotels were of a high standard. Some of the extra lunches and dinners that were included were great. Some of the outstanding meals that were included in our trip included a lunch at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the river in the Sacred Valley on our bus trip to Ollantaytambo (where I had my first taste of llama!) and also a beautiful dinner at the tango show in Buenos Aires.

Thank you so much for a great tour. We have recovered from the jet lag now and can begin to look back and enjoy our pictures, relive the experiences and remember the amazing sites we have seen.

We really have appreciated your advice, planning, sense of humour and sense of calm on the 2 tours we have done with you. Although we prefer to travel independently in other countries, we were not keen on touring independently in Mexico or South America so many thanks to you both for agreeing to accompany us this year. Huge thank you to Judy for assisting me with the doctor in Mexico City as well. To have your medical knowledge Judy helped me enormously. It seems rather funny now as I look back on it but it was a concern for me at the time.

Some highlights for us were:

  • The 3 Amigos Tour in Copper Canyon with Julio as the guide was fantastic. It was an outback adventure all the way to Batopilas and back. We also enjoyed the great train ride.
  • Tlaquepaque was a wonderful place to start for the 6 of us – classy, easy to walk around and we were able to begin to get familiar with the urban side of Mexico. Loved the hote
  • Enjoyed learning about Tequila production and have impressed our daughter with our new found knowledge. We bought her a bottle of Don Julio Tequila at LA Airport and she was very impressed.
  • Teotihuacan, Monte Alban, Mitla, Palenque, Uxmal, Chichen Itza were all fantastic. I can’t choose between them – they all had something different to make them more outstanding than the others! To walk up to the top of some of the pyramids was wonderful as was hearing about the mayan culture.
  • The colonial towns were interesting and having accommodation so close to the centre of the old part of these towns was great. I have a greater knowledge now of some of the Mexican history – just a bit hazy on names and exact dates!
  • Agua Azul was breathtaking in its colour. A slow walk down from the top enabled us to take in the coolness and the paddle at the bottom was a bit of fun for us.
  • Loved the R and R at Playa del Carmen. Still cannot get over how warm the water was and how beautiful the sand, pools, rooms etc were.
  • The hotels were all great. To relax, cool down and swim in some hotels was a great way to unwind after many hours on the road.

We love the pottery we bought and all the pieces arrived back intact! The tablecloths and mats all look good, just need to re do the throw cushions to match now!

I hope we were not too difficult to deal with. I guess it is never easy to get everybody happy all the time but rest assured, we did have a good time, saw amazing sites, and appreciate what must go into organizing a tour like this. We would gladly recommend your company and the trip to others.

Thanks for putting up with our idiosyncrasies and fussy eating habits. You are very seasoned travellers and I marvel at how comfortable you both are in these off beat places. I wanted to say thank you a bit more to you both but I get a bit teary at journeys end when we are parting and then we are on the next queue.

Have printed a couple of pictures at home for you to giggle at. Hope you are all relaxed now back in Melbourne. Huge thank you again to you both and we hope the South America trip is wonderful later in the year for you.

I’m just flying home from South America, and want to thank you for the brilliant job you did in making all of the flight, accommodation and ground transport bookings for us. Everything ran incredibly smoothly – it was far and away the easiest trip I’ve had over there out of the 7 times I have run this. All of the hotel rooms were exactly as requested. The Contour travel rep in Santiago was absolutely top notch.  Everything went absolutely brilliantly.  Thanks so much for all of your efforts!

just had to send a big thank you for the wonderful trip you organised for us on Navimag and then for further travel around wonderful Chile. The 4 of us had a wonderful time particularly on the ferry. What a great trip!! All the accommodation you organised was extraordinary (real luxury). The hire car went well and we were met every step of the way. We felt like royalty!!! The 4 of us are used to camping and managing on our own so this was great.
