Day 1 Punta Arenas/Torres del Paine
Pick up from Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales and transfer to Tierra Patagonia. Knowledgeable, skilled and experienced guides lead Tierra Patagonia’s excursions. Excursions vary from treks, horseback rides across the Patagonian steppe and exhilarating mountain hikes. These activities enable all guests to see all corners of the National Park as well as areas less travelled. Guests will see world-famous locations and meet locals who live and work in this unique setting.
Day 2 Torres del Paine
Choose from a range of half-day and full-day excursions that cater for every fitness level and interest. Small groups ensure maximum enjoyment on your outings! From 4WD adventures to horse-riding and hiking- Tierra Patagonia has something for everyone. Suggested excursion options include:
– Laguna Azul: a scenic journey to enjoy spectacular views of the North, Central and South towers, weather permitting. Enjoy a short walk along the north shore of the lake and in springtime and summer see many birds in the lenga woods.
– Paine Massif: a full day exploring the western part of the park. This excursion is the best option to see a large part of the park in just one day, with stops at various places for taking great photographs. The journey finishes in the area of Lake Grey, where there are glaciers, ice floes and feathery Nothofagus woods.
Day 3 Torres del Paine
Enjoy another full day exploring the dramatic landscape of Patagonia. Suggested excursion options include:
– Salto Grande: a scenic journey to some of the most classic areas of Torres Del Paine National Park. A short walk will bring you to Salto Grande, a magnificent waterfall.
– Pingo Valley and Grey Peninsula: a medium level hike through one of the greenest areas of the park, Pingo Valley, to reach a small waterfall. After lunch, we visit Grey Lake, where you can see Grey Glacier in the distance.
Day 4 Torres del Paine
Enjoy another full day exploring the dramatic landscape of Patagonia. Suggested excursion options include:
– Condoreras: a medium level hike with stunning views of the Torres del Paine, Sierra Contreras, Sierra del Toro and also the hotel, from a 360° viewpoint.
– French Valley: a challenging full-day hike that will take you up French Valley to the viewpoint below spectacular French Glacier. There are great views of the Cuernos del Paine on the way.
Day 5 Torres del Paine
Enjoy another full day exploring the dramatic landscape of Patagonia. Suggested excursion options include:
– Hunters Trail: a 2-3 hour hike to see cave paintings from the Aonikenk, hunter-gatherer native Indians that occupied this area some 6,000 years ago. It is also one of the best areas in the park to see wildlife such as guanacos, foxes and condors.
– Cerro Guido Horseride: a leisurely two-hour ride to a high plain, where we can view the valley of Cerro Guido, Lago del Toro, Lake Sarmiento, the Paine massif and Cerro Cazador.
Day 6 Torres del Paine/Santiago de Chile
After breakfast, transfer back to Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales for your onward flight to Santiago and transfer to your hotel.
Day 7 Santiago de Chile/San Pedro de Atacama
Early after breakfast you will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the airport for your flight to Calama. On arrival, you will be met by an English speaking representative of the hotel and transferred to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.
Day 8 San Pedro de Atacama
Choose from a range of half-day and full-day excursions that cater for every fitness level and interest. From 4WD adventures to horse-riding, biking and hiking- Tierra Atacama has something for everyone. Suggested excursion options include:
– 4WD tour to Moon Valley: an easy three-hour tour with spectacular views over Death Valley, Moon Valley and the Andes mountain range.
– Quitor Fortress: a unique cultural excursion visiting the archaeological museum in San Pedro de Atacama and the Fort of Quitor.
– Puritama Hot Springs: a medium level hike will bring you to these natural pools, where you can bathe and relax in the thermal waters.
Day 9 San Pedro de Atacama
Another day to explore the Atacama. Suggested excursion options include:
– Textiles weaved with Cactus Needles – Socaire: travel to Socaire to meet a family of indigenous artisans who will you the ancestral process for creating textiles from alpaca, llama and lamb’s wool.
– Desert flavours – Paths in Coyo: visit an indigenous family’s business and discover their ecological farm, their restaurant serves indigenous cuisine, and a forest inhabited by different bird species and 500-year old trees. Explore their gardens and learn about their crops and animals before participating in an Andean food tasting. You’ll get to try local delicacies such as Algarrobo bread, guanaco paté, llama meat, goat cheese, toasted maíz, chañar mousse, and ayllu wine.
Day 10 San Pedro de Atacama
A full day to enjoy the range of excursions and activities included in your stay.
– Petroglyphs/ Rainbow Valley: Rainbow Valley is a part of the Domeyko Mountains with many-coloured rocks resulting from minerals experiencing different erosion and environmental processes. After this no longer than 30-minute scenic hike we will ride to the town of Hierbas Buenas and visit a natural shelter made of compacted volcanic ash once used by farmers travelling in caravans. Here we will see many petroglyphs of archaeological and historical significance.
– Bike the Devil’s Canyon: leave from the hotel on bicycles and head north from San Pedro following the course of its namesake’s river to 2,400 meters above sea level. The landscape varies between the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt Mountain Range) and its surrounding oasis.
Day 11 San Pedro de Atacama
A full day to enjoy the range of excursions and activities included in your stay. Suggested excursion options include:
– 4WD tour to the highland lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques: enjoy extraordinary mountain scenery and have lunch in the remote Altiplanic community of Socaire.
– Bike Ride through the Ayllus: a smooth ride through oases villages, where local inhabitants live traditional lifestyles.
Day 12 San Pedro de Atacama
Transfer to Calama Airport for your onwards flight.
