About Delfin II

Delfin II Amazon Cruise has a maximum capacity of 30 passengers in its 14 suites. The four Master Suites have 90° front-facing windows for private views of the river. Furthermore, all suites feature Indoor sitting area, Yoga mat and native design elements and handicrafts. They offer all the comforts provided by world-class lodging yet with the spirit of casual and refined elegance while you sail in the Peruvian Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. The dining room, observation deck and lounge, bar, entertainment centre, and library are the ideal gathering places for all guests. The dry or low water season runs from June to October. It is ideal for travellers that prefer to walk through the rainforest to discover its flora and fauna. It allows for more extensive hikes and fewer mosquitos.
The rainy or high water season runs from November to May. This is ideal for travellers that prefer to duck into otherwise isolated corners of the reserve onboard speed boats. It allows for more extensive exploration and access via water. In any case, each season boasts a dramatic difference in plants, animals, and weather.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Iquitos/Cruise

AM: Arrive to the Amazon city of Iquitos. You will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the port in time to board your cruise. Begin your trip with a panoramic tour of Iquitos city. After the tour, travel 95km over paved road to the city of Nauta, to embark on the Delfin II. Along the way, you will see vibrant “terra firma” (non-flooded forest) and various aspects of daily jungle life.

Delfin II offers comfortable beds, pure cotton sheets, pillows of 100% pure natural latex as well as cotton bathrobes. The cabins have a private bathroom as well as a spacious private terrace we are sure you will enjoy to the fullest.
While Delfin II begins its primary navigation, you will enjoy the most fantastic panoramic views from the elegantly outfitted observation area located on the 3rd deck. The bartender will be waiting to serve you with an exotic cocktail made with local fruits and pisco. Your naturalist guide will give you an overview of the journey’s schedule, activities, route, highlights, wildlife, and vegetation to keep your eye out for, geographical and historical background, and other useful details. The 3rd deck features an entertainment centre which offers use for film presentations, as well as extensive literature about the area (fauna, flora, etc.) There is also a completely equipped bar where you can test any combination of regional and international liquors and aromas. Day 3 Cruise

Pacaya River Exploration and Night Safari
This morning, venture out on an early skiff exploration of the Pacaya River, a remote area known for its abundant wildlife and serene landscapes. The early hours are ideal for spotting various animals, including caimans, river otters, and diverse bird species that thrive in the area. Afterward, you’ll have the opportunity to swim near a group of pink river dolphins, a rare and memorable experience.

As evening falls, embark on a night safari along the riverbanks. The rainforest comes alive after dark, and with the help of your guides, you’ll spot nocturnal creatures like night monkeys, bats, and even elusive caimans, making for an adventurous and thrilling end to your day.

Day 4 Cruise

El Dorado River and Community Visit
Today’s journey takes you to the El Dorado River, an area of the Amazon that offers a blend of beautiful landscapes and cultural encounters. In the morning, visit a local riverside community where you will learn about their way of life, traditions, and how they sustainably interact with the environment. This visit provides a meaningful insight into the lives of the people who call the Amazon home.

In the afternoon, explore hidden lagoons and winding channels, where you’ll have the chance to spot wildlife such as iguanas, squirrel monkeys, and a variety of exotic birds. This exploration highlights the untouched beauty and tranquility of the Amazon.

Day 5 Iquitos

Fundo Casual Trail Walk and Disembarkation
On your final day, explore the Fundo Casual trail, which offers an immersive jungle walk through diverse terrain. This guided hike provides close encounters with the Amazon’s flora and fauna, including medicinal plants, towering trees, and a variety of insects, frogs, and bird species. Your guides will share their knowledge about the rainforest’s ecosystems, enhancing your understanding of this complex environment. After the trail walk, return to the Delfin II for your final journey back to Nauta.
