The trip was fantastic! Thank you and it was wonderful to see such a beautiful and pristine environment, in the presence of a great bunch of people young and old from many different countries. The ship was basic but most welcoming and the staff all incredible.
Unfortunately, we were late getting away from SYD due to a total airport computer glitch and consequently were late all the way to Santiago. We (and about 20 others) missed our connection to Buenos Aires as LATAM failed to hold the connecting flight (for only about 10mins) and failed to provide any signage, directions or assistance to get to the connecting gate which was 12 mins walk away! We got a flight 6 hrs later and it was no big deal but we just knew Qantas wouldn’t do such a thing!
The hotel in Buenos Aires was lovely and the evening of making cocktails and empanadas was extremely well run and great fun.
Checkin on Aerolineas Argentina’s Buenos Aires to Ushuaia stated luggage restriction was 15kgs, and only 23kgs if you come directly from an international flight. They let us on anyway!
Lastly, we failed to buy $USA before we got there (too busy) and found great difficulty buying them in Buenos Aires. They stated that we could only purchase USD$100 per MONTH! and that was only after converting to pesos and then $USA. We tried again in Usuhuia and were able to get USD but at a huge exchange rate. The economy seems to be in a pretty bad way and they tell us that inflation is now at about 50%! There were people on the streets selling $USA on the black market.
The Tango show was wonderful but started and finished very late for us oldies who had to rise at 3am for an early morning flight.
Overall a fantastic trip, I would highly recommend it. Here are a couple of photos.....
