ITINERARY

Day 1 Quito

Arrive in Quito, Ecuador’s vibrant capital, and transfer to your hotel. Spend the evening at leisure, preparing for the journey ahead.

Day 2 Quito

Dive into Quito’s rich history with a half-day tour of its UNESCO-listed colonial centre. Visit iconic sites like Plaza de la Independencia and San Francisco Convent before enjoying panoramic views of the city from Panecillo Hill.

Day 3 Quito/Otavalo

Travel north to the Otavalo Valley, renowned for its bustling indigenous markets. Browse colourful textiles and crafts, then savor lunch at a local restaurant. Conclude the day at Cuicocha, a stunning crater lake surrounded by lush vegetation.

Day 4 Otavalo/Papallacta

Begin the day with a visit to a rose plantation, showcasing Ecuador’s floral treasures. Enjoy lunch at a historic hacienda before continuing through the scenic Andes. Stop at Papallacta Lake and finish the day with a relaxing soak in the Papallacta Hot Springs, nestled in a mountain setting.

Day 5 Papallacta/Cotopaxi

Start your morning with a rejuvenating dip in the thermal pools. Journey into Cotopaxi National Park, where you’ll traverse Andean paramo landscapes and pine forests to reach the base of the majestic Cotopaxi Volcano, the world’s highest active volcano at 5,897m.

Day 6 Cotopaxi/Patate

Explore a vibrant local market in the Cotopaxi Province before heading south along the Pan-American Highway. Stop at Ambato’s botanical gardens and museum dedicated to writer Juan Leon Mera. Travel through patchwork farmlands to the serene Patate Valley.

Day 7 Patate/Riobamba

Visit Baños, known for its tropical vegetation, orchids, and rejuvenating hot springs. Marvel at waterfalls along the Route of the Waterfalls, including a short hike to the breathtaking Pailon del Diablo. Continue to Riobamba, nestled at the foot of Chimborazo Volcano, the highest one in Ecuador 6,268m.

Day 8 Riobamba/Cuenca

Embark on an unforgettable journey to Chimborazo, the closest point to the sun on Earth. Drive to 4,800m, then hike to a higher refuge at 5,000m, spotting llamas and vicuñas along the way. Visit Ingapirca, Ecuador’s most significant Inca ruins, before reaching the colonial city of Cuenca. We suggest you add another night in Cuenca to explore this charming city, full of artisans.

Day 9 Cuenca/Guayaquil

Stroll through Cuenca’s cobblestone streets and colonial plazas, visiting highlights like the flower market, New and Old Cathedrals, and artisan shops. After lunch, travel to Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city. Explore landmarks such as Iguanas Park, La Rotonda, and the Malecón waterfront.

Day 10 Guayaquil
