Delfin III Amazon Cruise five day itinerary includes the main highlights of the Amazon such as swimming with pink river dolphins, piranha fishing & night safari, kayaking, jungle trail walk as well as visiting an Amazon village and to the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (ACOBIA).
About the vessel:
The Delfin III, offers guests an immersive rainforest experience while simultaneously treating them to the highest levels of luxury. This brand new vessel has a capacity for up to 43 passengers. The ship has been beautifully finished with the finest details, hardwood floors, designer furniture, and handmade Peruvian artefacts. The itineraries have been carefully planned and are set to offer an unforgettable experience. Guests will have no shortage of up close rainforest experience and gourmet food to compliment. Guests have the option of four room classes. On the first deck there are 8 Fauna Suites complete with floor to ceiling panoramic windows as well as 2 spacious Estuary Suites facing the front of the ship. The second deck is comprised of 10 Flora Suites and the largest of all, the Amazonia Suite. The top deck features beautiful indoor and outdoor lounge, a sundeck with plunge pool, a spa and gym, and of course the bar.
AM: Arrive to the Amazon city of Iquitos:
Today you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the port in time to board your cruise. Upon arrival in Iquitos, enjoy a panoramic city tour of the farthest inland port that serves ocean vessels in the world. Pass the historic area of the city, where many of the wonderful houses of the 20th century “rubber barons,” including the famous Casa de Fierro (the Iron House).
Next, visit the Manatee Rescue Center, a fantastic project committed to saving orphaned manatees and reintroducing them into the wild. Learn also about their importance to the world’s ecosystem, and why they so endangered in this part of the Amazon.
You will be transferred by coach to the Itaya River for embarkation. After a short orientation and welcome reception, enjoy a traditional welcome dinner on board.
AM: Samiria River: Take the skiffs through the Samiria River and its tributaries, where an abundance of wildlife hides in the deep rainforest, such as Blue and Yellow Macaws, Scarlet Macaws, Toucans, umbrella birds, Monkeys, and River Otters, Capybaras and more. Your naturalists and their expert eyes, will pinpoint all the biodiversity of this region. This is also a popular Dolphin feeding spot so you won´t be the only one enjoying the plethora of fish below.
PM:Yanayacu Pucate: You will start cruising through the Yanayacu and Pucate Rivers, peeking into different creeks and lagoons. This is one of the best preserved and protected zones of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. You will even have the opportunity to swim in the jungle river along with the famous Pink Dolphins!
AM: Fundo Casual: The walk at Fundo Casual jungle trail will take you deep into the rainforest on “Terra Firma” (non-flooded forest) where your guide will point out the dynamic creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. Be sure to keep an attentive eye open for spotting surprises!
San Francisco: Next, you will visit the community of San Francisco will include a short skiff ride and jungle walk to meet local villagers who have called Amazonia their home for generations. Here, you will visit a market featuring amazing arts and crafts from the local women. Following this visit will be a jungle walk with your guides to search for nocturnal creatures.
PM: Nauta Caño: After a delicious dinner, you will visit Nauta Caño Creek. Also, go fishing for the famous Piranha, a delightful and challenging experience you won’t forget! As night approaches, your guide will take you on a night safari in search of Caiman and night birds.
Today you will be transferred back to Iquitos airport for your ongoing flight. On the way, you will visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre of River Mammals (ACOBIA) where you will have the chance to meet baby manatees and learn about these wonderful and docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list. You will also have the chance to pet and feed these kind manatees. As well, there are also some other animals cared for by the centre that have been rescued from capture for the intention of being turned into pets and other threatening conditions.
