ITINERARY

Day 1 Mexico City

Arrive in Mexico City & transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 Mexico City

Early departure to Teotihuacan Ruins to see the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon and enjoy the ruins in the cooler part of the day. Return to Mexico City to explore the highlights, including the Zocalo, Cathedral, National Palace, Tenochtitlan and the Museum of Anthropology

Day 3 Mexico City

Day at leisure to relax and explore. Consider a visit to the Frida Kahlo Museum in Coyoacan or the floating gardens of Xochimilco.

Day 4 Mexico City/Palenque

Flight to Villahermosa and overland transfer to Palenque. Enjoy a swim amidst lush jungle surrounds and relax this afternoon.

Day 5 Palenque

Half-day tour of the Maya ruins of Palenque, built on the fringe of the Chiapas Jungle.

Day 6 Palenque

Full-day tour visiting the Maya sites of Yaxchilan and Bonampak located in the Lacandon jungle.

Day 7 Palenque/San Cristobal

This morning drive to Agua Azul waterfalls and enjoy a refreshing swim. In the afternoon continue to San Cristobal to stay overnight.

Day 8 San Cristobal

Visit the colourful market and the native villages of Chamula and Zinacantan. These living Maya communities still preserve ancient traditions.

Day 9 San Cristobal

Day at leisure to relax or explore.

Day 10 San Cristobal/Lake Atitlan

Transfer to La Mesilla where you will meet your Guatemalan driver. Continue to the shores of beautiful Lake Atitlan, surrounded by dramatic volcanic peaks

Day 11 Lake Atitlan

Tour famous Chichicastenango, one of the most colourful markets in Latin America (available Thursday and Sunday – ask your consultant about options for other days).

Day 12 Lake Atitlan /Lake Atitlan

Day at leisure. Ask us about optional kayaking or hiking tours or simply relax in a hammock and enjoy the views.

Day 13 Lake Atitlan/Antigua Guatemala

Transfer to the stunning colonial city of Antigua. Enjoy a walking tour of the most important sites including the Cathedral, National Palace and San Francisco Church.

Day 14 Antigua Guatemala

Day at leisure to relax or explore.

Day 15 Antigua Guatemala/Flores

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Flores. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy a sunset tour of Yaxha Ruins, set in lush jungle.

Day 16 Tikal

Full-day tour of the UNESCO World Heritage site Tikal National Park, where Maya temples rise above the jungle canopy.

Day 17 tikal/San Ignacio

Private transfer across the border into Belize and your hotel in San Ignacio.

Day 18 San Ignacio

Enjoy a private half-day tour of the largest archaeological site in Belize, Caracol. Visit the five main plazas, the astronomical observatory and the enormous pyramid of Caana, rising more than 40 metres above the floor of the rainforest. After picnic lunch we’ll return to your hotel, with a stop at the Rio Frio Caves and Pools for a refreshing dip.

Day 19 San Ignacio

Day at leisure – ask us about optional activities including hikes, horse-riding, underground boat tours and cave tubing. A visit to nearby Xunantunich ruins is also highly recommended.

Day 20 Belize City/Ambergris Caye

Private transfer to Belize City where you’ll take a water-taxi to the stunning Ambergris Caye, your jumping off point for the magnificent Belize Barrier Reef. Transfer to your hotel on arrival.

Day 21 Ambergris Caye

This morning’s snorkelling tour begins at Hol Chan Marine Reserve, the first marine reserve in Central America, to explore the coloured reefs. Continue to Shark Alley where you will encounter friendly stingrays, inquisitive brown nurse sharks, turtles, as well as an abundance of colourful reef fish including snappers and jacks.

Day 22 Ambergris Caye

Day at leisure to relax and explore.

Day 23 Ambergris Caye/Belize City

After breakfast take the water-taxi back to the mainland and transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
