ITINERARY

Day 1 Managua /Granada

On arrival at Managua airport, you will be met by one of our local representatives and transferred to Jicaro Island Lodge. After the check-in, you can explore the area. Jicaro Ecolodge is the perfect base to explore Lake Nicaragua, Granada Isletas, and other attractions of Nicaragua. Whether you want to explore Nicaragua’s nature and culture or enjoy other activities in beautiful settings. Your private guide will teach you about local flora and fauna, Nicaraguan history, culture, and day-to-day living.

Day 2 Granada

This morning, you can choose from a selection of tours and nature trekking that will take you amongst the flora and fauna of Nicaragua. The range of habitats is huge, from the lowland dry forest and agriculture to the cloud forests perched on the edge of volcanoes. Knowledgeable guides will accompany you throughout the trek to identify animal, bird, and plant species.

Take a tour of the plantations, tropical forests, and hot springs. Take a short boat ride to the foot of the Mombacho Volcano, which can be seen from the island. Here you will start a 2 hours hike from the Calera farm through plantain and stretches of tropical dry forests where you can observe the local flora and fauna. Your expert guide will interpret not only the forest but also the cultural implications of farming on Mombacho, which dates back to colonial times.
At the end of the hike, you’ll enjoy a picnic, and you can jump into the hot spring on the shore of the lake. Then Kayak on the waterway before returning to the lodge.

Day 3 Granada

Mombacho volcano and cloud forest trek
Leave the hotel after breakfast and walk in the Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve. Take a ride from Granada to the foot of Mombacho Volcano in a 4×4 vehicle to start the trekking adventure, then stop halfway to a coffee farm to enjoy a cup of coffee. Once at the top of the volcano, visit the biological station to gather information about this cloud forest. Walk into the forest on “El Crater, Tigrillo or Puma Trail” and observe dense vegetation where plants like orchids and bromeliads cover trees. The trail has a great view of Lake Nicaragua and the island. Why don’t you try to point out which one is your island?
